Princess Quizness

I took a Disney Princess quiz and I am most like Jasmine:

Independent and adventurous. You don't want much; just to break out of the guilded cage society has put you in and experience life to the fullest. Following orders isn't really one of your strong points, and you would rather live a life of poverty than being forced into something that you hate.

Jail House Rock

So, last Friday I decided to audition for BYU's "New Play Project" which is about 8, 10-minute plays written by BYU students and then completely student produced. They had a mass audition where I read scenes from 4 different plays. And tonight I checked my e-mail just to see if they had cast the plays and they did... I got a part! It's a play called "A New Toaster", it's about 2 sisters (Erica and Joanna) Erica (me) has just broken up with her boyfriend and is taking out her frustration on the broken toaster. She spends the play trying to fix it, the toaster is a metaphor for her relationship that she can't fix. It's a good meaty role with lots of emotion. I'm SO excited!! It's December 1st at 7:30 pm and December 2nd at 2pm and 7:30pm. Please come, it will be awesome!

[Sigh] Anyway...what else is happening? My ward had a pumkin carving contest tonight, and my group won best theme, we did a pumkins-of-the-world theme. We had an Eifel tower pumpkin, a Statue of Liberty pumpkin, a leaning tower of Piza pumpkin, and a Tahj Mahal pumpkin. They looked cool, I took pictures and will post them soon.

Ok, so Gilmore Girls was awesome last week! Lorelai and Christopher's barn side drive in movie date was adorable, but the best part was Emily Gilmore being pulled over and put in Jail for...well I'm not sure why, I guess it was a DUI and for refusing to comply with the officer. But holy cow was it hilarious or what?! It pretty much ruled.

Well, hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for stopping by! Mahalo.

Shama-shama el-mel kamama!

Wow, what a week this has been already! I had a French test on Monday, new Gilmore Girls last night, tons of reading to do, and other crazy stuff.

So, in my theater class this week we are talking about acting and my professor gave us the chance to do a fake audition for her in front of the class . It could be a musical audition or a straight audition, whatever we wanted, and she would give us feedback. When you audition for real you don't get feedback from the director, you just either get the part or you don't so this was a unique opportunity, plus my professor is like this AMAZING actress who teaches at the best university in the state (a little dig at the U!) so her advice is very valuable. So, I decided I should do it. I chose a monologue from Barefoot in the Park when Corie is calling Paul a stuffed shirt. I didn't decide on this monologue until yesterday so I had to memorize it fast, but I was really brave and did it today. It went pretty well until about half way through when I spaced out and forgot my lines, so I just pretended that that was where I meant to end it. I got some good feedback and felt like I really learned something about myself, and how I can improve. I'm really glad I did it.

It's time to talk about the newest episode of GG's ! Last night's episode was not incredibly full of improtant events but did move some of the story lines along. Lane told Zack about the baby, which was pretty funny because they both concealed and then revealed their anxieties about it, Rory and Logan, unfortunately, made some improvements to their cross-Atlantic relationship (gag!), and Christopher expressed his feelings to Lorelai telling her that he loves her and wants to commit! I have nothing against Chris, in fact I think he is a nice guy and that he and Lorelai complement each other well, but when she called him back after he told her how he felt she just didn't seem like her heart was in it. I just don't think she really wants that, she wanted to be with Luke! Grrrrr... I have no clue what is going to happen but I can't wait to find out. The writing seemed better this week, had me laughing out loud a few times. What do you think?

Okay, there is another show I want to talk about- it's a new show on Wednesday nights at nine called The Nine. When I saw the first previews for this show I thought it looked really good and I thought I'd like it so I watched the season premiere last week. I was really excited to see some awesome people in the cast like Scott Wolf and 24's Kim Raver (who I think is the best actress in the cast of this show) and that one girl from that Disney movie Gotta Kick it Up! (did you notice her Bear?) I liked it, it was different from what I thought it would be but I thought it was good and I am going to watch it again tonight. BUT did anyone else feel like it was like LOST re-tooled? The same basic plot elements were there: strangers go through a crisis together, then we watch as their back stories unfold and relationships develop. I don't know, it just struck me as really similar.

Anyways, I have to go practice singing with some girls in my ward (we're singing in sacrament together soon) but thanks for stopping by again! Catch ya later!

P.S. The YouTube obsession continues, check out this awesome clip of Sutton Foster singing "On My Way" from the musical Violet. It's great! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8GpMTH0zTQ

Wicked Colds!

Aloha!
I hope everyone is doing well. I am doing ok. My roomate Nicole got a nasty cold last week(which I tried to avoid catching) but despite my best efforts I have become aflicted with it as well. And so have my other two rommates. So, we are just the apartment of gross, diseased girls. But it's getting a little better and I am hopeful that it will be gone by the end of the week.

So, it has been a whole week since the season premiere of Gilmore Girls!Let me just say that even though Lorelai made a mistake in running to Christopher the night she and Luke broke off their engagement, Luke is really the one who messed everything up between them. He kept pushing Lorelai away while he was trying to sort things out with his newly found daughter and expected her to wait forever. Yes he's to be applauded for being a dad to April but he has been waiting for Lorelai for like 10 years and he finally had her, she even proposed to him for crying out loud! So I was totally with her on telling him, "It's now or never!"

Now, as far as Christopher goes, I don't think they should be together. It's never been right between them and I don't think it ever can be- PLUS she still loves Luke! Oh, the drama! It's wonderful. Two other storylines that must be commented on: Rory and Logan- I am the president of the "I hate Logan" Club, so I can't wait until Rory figures out he's nothing but trouble and dumps him, I'm glad he's in London. And then there's Lane-Pregnant Lane? No, no, no, it was hard enough to get used to the idea that Lane is married but pregnant too?! Too much.

As you may have heard Amy Sherman-Paladino and her husband (the show's creators and main writers) are no longer with the show. I don't know about you but I have notice a difference in the dialogue, it's not nearly as fast and is missing the obscure references which gave the show so much of it's charm. Plus tonight's episode was loaded with too many lame Hollywood references that seemed out of the norm, for example: 2 Gweneth Paltrow references in 5 min. Weird. They also had Rory talking like a high school valley girl, "Like... You know...and I was like..."Hated that! Does anyone agree with me? Have the Gilmores gone down hill?

A few last things before I go to bed: The BYU game on Thursday.... AWESOME!! That was a great game and a big win for the Cougars. They played really well and proved that they are a solid team. Bronco, you're doing a great job. My pick for player of the game: #12 John Beck-Quarter Back. He played with two sprained ankles and ruled the field!

In exactly one month from today I will be in Chicago with my parents and my sister seeing Wicked!! I am so excited I can hardly satnd it. And the next ngiht we are going to see a pre-Broadway production of The Pirate Queen! Yea.

Also I wanted to say a big "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!" to my awesome sister Ro, love you pal!

One last thing, I found the coolest video on YouTube that you must check out!! It's a video of Kristin Chenoweth singing on the set of The West Wing. She's freakin' awesome. You'll love it! Here's the link

Anyways- thanks for stopping by. Please leave comments!
